A Real Estate Blogsite is a good solution for a blogger more interested in providing content than building a blog platform.
Put a few bloggers in a room together and it won’t be long before the discussion turns to blogging platforms. When I started real estate blogging in February 2006, I had no idea that it would help me with search engine placement. For the first 3 months of my blogging experience, I used a Typepad platform which I still utilize for my Simply Ledyard Photoblog. Once I figured out that google loved blog content, I decided it was time to let the professionals take over. While Typepad was a good place for me to begin, I really didn’t have the time to spend building the site beyond adding content. I didn’t want to have to consider which plug-ins to use or learn about search engine pinging or content moderation. For some bloggers, the challenge of building a site is half the fun; for me, writing and adding content is what I’m in the game for. Real Estate Blogsites became the best blogging solution for me since they were equipped with the technology features to get me up and running fast.
A Real Estate Blogsite (REBS) offers these automated platform features:
Automated briefings:A REBS has the capability to gather relevant content about a specific real estate market and local area by automatically canvasing Google on a daily basis. As a result, blogsites appear fresh by constantly populating themselves in the form of news. Simply put, it is automatic content creation. This is a good thing for bloggers who find themselves with nothing to say, a concept I’m not familiar with.
Intelligence Channels: These work much the same way as briefings but are meant for internal research, allowing you to stay informed about the competition. It is somewhat like spying on the enemy.
Automated pinging: While other platforms can ping, REBS does it automatically and instantly informs all accepting search engines of any changes or new content that is added to a blog. No manual steps required here.
Automated topic cloud: Every keyword or keyphrase used is added to a Topic Cloud. As content grows, search engine spiders flag the cloud for continued cataloging.
Built in Quality Assurance: Once a week an email report is generated which includes notifications of broken links, too few keywords, missing images or summaries.
Web Statistics: If you like analyzing your blogsite, this feature tallies unique visitors, page views, traffic times, requested pages, referring URL’s, 404 errors, and googled pages.
Multiple Channels: A REBS can include multiple channels allowing REBS customers to use specific blog channels for different towns or subdivisions in their market area.
PROS: The REBS blogging system is easy to use since the folks at REBS provide all the technology features for you. Writing posts is not much different than using a word processor and the text editor supports what you would expect: images, linking, tagging, video, and podcasting. REBS is turnkey. Once you make the decision to use this platform, you will be live and ready to start posting in just a couple of weeks. REBS even moved all my posts from TypePad so I was able to get a good running start. It only took about 3 weeks to find myself on the first page of Google for the keywords I was targeting. REBS has excellent online resources about blogging in general and REBS specifically.
CONS: Unless you are really serious about blogging, you’ll find the monthly prices to be high, although not much higher than a quality IDX website. This product is not for the casual blogger or for someone who has the time, expertise, and inclination to manage their own site.
