Does anyone use Digg or De.li.cious? I heard that these sites help you to create traffic for your site through social bookmarking. I’m not sure how to use these sites though even though I have been investigating a few ways to help my blog get traffic. How much traffic can you expect to accumulate through digg and de.li.cious?

I’ve set up an account at de.li.cious, but I have yet to notice any traffic as a result of it.

I haven’t spent the time to follow through and be a part of the community there, which I think is pretty much essential to get results with a blog or site that you’re trying to promote.

I’ve tried Digg through my friend’s recommendation. I’m disappointed because nothing happened to increase my earnings. Maybe I still need more education about it.

A friend of mine has a fairly long term plan using myspace.

He’s adding friends with similar interests to his and to some extent developing relationships, and when his product is available he’ll announce it to them after having some history of correspondence with many of them.

It will take some time.

Are you talking about the digg.it plug-in that available for Wordpress. I have found it works pretty well, th eonly real issue is that you have to initally digg your own stories to get the ball rolling

I have tried them out but like Ricardo said, i also didn’t really notice any traffic increase, i would say advertising the old fashioned way would be the best route.

Are you able to digg your own content? It seems to me about a year or more ago I heard about the possibility of getting banned for the misuse of “digging” something.

Digg and Del.ici.ous are generally only effective if you are a power user with many friends. In addition to that, it’s hard to get much traffic from it unless you cover topics like humor, technology, or breaking news.

I greatly prefer StumbleUpon. The traffic comes quickly and is generally more targeted.

Has anyone here tried carefully placed posts on Craigslist?

It’s fairly easy to be labelled a spammer there, but you can get some hits if you’re not too far off topic.

Yes, I agree.  I have accounts with both, because I submitted some of my articles to them to build traffic.  I got the most traffic from digg immediately, then the traffic dropped.  I think it was because I was a new user.  If I wanted to pump up traffic, I would log into digg and build a network.  Read and comment on other people’s diggs and then they would take an interest in mine.  It’s really just networking via computer.

It sounds like a question of the amount of time spent building the network of people, compared to how much traffic you get.

I’ve spent some considerable time at the Craigslist forums, as I mentioned above, but recently I haven’t bothered. In my case, I feel I’ve worked the material I have up on the sites enough, ad I’ll probably start again when I post new articles.

I use Digg to get traffic to my site.Actually Digg increases the back links to your site or blog. When somebody searches for a word in internet then Digg links come in first pages, and they point to your blog. This way you get traffic to your blog
