About fifteen to twenty years ago, before I was online, there was a local real estate agent with a small company who had a very effective newsletter with jokes, recipes, historical accounts of local interest and news on the current local real estate market.
I’m sure if this agent is still in business, he’s embracing the blogging possibility, and I’m sure it’s working for him. I think it’s all about content.
You may have a big point there Ricardo. I mean there is alot of content that you could write about when blogging about real estate. But wouldn’t you think that it would be a hard market to keep up with considering the fact that it moves and changes so fast?

I definitely think that you’d have to stay on top of it, yes.
I just thought of another hardcopy newsletter that we get pretty much monthly now. It shows info about condo unit sales in our complex like which building they were in, how many bedrooms etc., the prices and how long they were on the market before selling. We pay attention to that newsletter, and I think the same sort of content would work in a blog, plus the link to it could be in an email and forum posting signature.
Personally I think newsletter may be a bit better than just using a blog. You usually send newsletters out to emails and continuosly keep people updated which I think might be a more effective way of getting your updated news out.

You could print the same content in the emailed version to make a hardcopy version.
In our condo complex, hardcopy newsletters are distributed in the mail boxes.
If you’re in blogging industry, it needs time and effort especially for beginners. I strongly believe that quality content increases efficiency. It’s very important to make your content unique inorder your blog to become popular. At the end of the day, you’ll earned bucks from your own effort.

I agree. In my experience years ago, I found a real estate agent’s newsletter very entertaining in itself, and this drew my attention to his services. I would look forward to seeing his next newsletter for the items that really had nothing to do with real estate.
I think that a blog would be better than a news letter because in this day and age, bloggin seems to be really big. More people may be likely to read a blog, then will look at a newsletter.
I think that blogging is worth the time I’m spending everyday with it because I know that I can make money with it. I can earn by affiliate program and do some sponsored review to add some income to my blog. This is the sole purpose of my blog.
I think new letters are now a waste of time, maile users recieve so much junk and spam mail that each individual mail does not recievie the attention it should, besides a presence on the high street a web presence is the only real alternative
Ricardo, I use the information I read in Blogs all the time. If I ever have a question I ask a forum or blogs. Most Blogs have a few subscribers who are experienced and I always get great information. Many NEWS companies talk about bloggers and how they influence, that should prove the blogs value.
I believe newsletters have a place. Many people still prefer holding hard copy in their hands. LOL let’s admit it, we all need something to read in the bathroom!
Blogging is a new phenomon, but it is not for everyone. If one isn’t able to commit to constant blogging and can only do it now and then, it’s not going to worth the effort. Blogging is one of those practices to make an impact one has to be FULL ON.
Many NOOB bloggers just regurgatate the newspaper. DUH! Like the public can’t read the newspaper! The purpose of blogging is to let your personality shine through. Consumers will connect with you because they like your authenticity.
I think that blogging can be a very important tool IF
1. you have the time to update and add to your blog on a regular basis.
2. you use it as a hub for social media network integration.
3. you do not rely on search engines but advertising and social media.
I do think that blogs are a super tool. But in real estate, I think that to rely on search engine traffic alone to your blog is suicide. Just type in your keywords, and think about what you see.
An interesting idea for a blog would be to create something with real estate tips and news. It would be a nice addition to any portfolio, would add credibility, provide new customers, and you could always make some money on the side. It could be a great way to market yourself.
